Description
** This workshop was previously called Carbon Management in Business **

Carbon management is becoming increasingly important in business world. What steps are you taking to drive carbon reduction and sustainability in your business? It’s a question businesses are increasingly being asked by customers and suppliers alike. Maybe you haven’t even got started on your sustainability and carbon management journey yet or you are at an early stage. Or perhaps you have found it challenging or fallen into the trap of paying a significant amount of money for a consultant to help you.

Whatever stage you are at, fear not! Help is at hand from Nottingham Trent University’s workshop - How to drive Carbon Reduction and Sustainability in your Business.
Overview
Who should attend?
Owners, directors, managers and staff who would like to become more confident in how they measure and manage their carbon footprint, and develop a Decarbonisation Plan to advance their sustainability journey.

What’s covered:
The workshop is split into four sessions:

1. Introduction to Carbon Management and the Business Case
2. Carbon Footprinting (Carbon Accounting)
3. Strategic Action Planning for Decarbonisation
4. Communication and Reporting

We’ll look at:
• Defining your responsibility when it comes to combating climate change
• Describing key terms such as Net Zero, Carbon Neutral, Carbon Offsetting and Greenwashing
• The business case for carbon management, and what customers and suppliers expect in a rapidly emerging landscape
• How you can capture data within your business to calculate your carbon footprint
• Creating a Decarbonisation Plan and strategy for implementation
• Learning from good practice case studies
• Reporting and communicating carbon management performance

You will leave the workshop with a handy workbook which will help you consolidate your learning for the development of a tailored Decarbonisation Plan for your business. The learning does not stop there! You will also be eligible for a 30-minute 1-to-1 follow-up consultancy support session with the workshop trainer. They will help you take the next steps in developing your Decarbonisation Plan and implementing identified changes as well as providing answers to questions that might have come to mind since the workshop.
Outcome
What outcomes will be achieved?
You will leave with knowledge, skills and the resources needed to reduce carbon emissions in your business including a better understanding of:

• Quick wins on what you can do to reduce operational cost, minimise energy bills and be efficient in resource use with low or no cost measures.
• Measuring your baseline carbon footprint (the moment in time from which you want to start measuring and managing your carbon emissions) and identifying appropriate data sources such as gas, electricity and water bills and converting them to carbon emissions stats. Better still, you’ll avoid the expense of getting a consultant to do it for you!
• The terminology around carbon management which then helps you speak with confidence to customers and suppliers and show you are a business that cares.
• What your business needs to do to be fully compliant with environmental legislation and to future proof.
• How to create a Decarbonisation Plan and communicate your carbon management performance for reporting.
• How you can put your learning to good use when applying for any decarbonisation and sustainability grants.

And thanks to your improved understanding, by the end of the day, you will also be feeling more confident to make changes within your business and reduce your carbon emissions to become more sustainable.
