Through a range of keynote speakers and panel discussions the 2025 Conference will focus on the challenges of the current economic and political environment, the opportunities and challenges that present for the sector and how we make the most of the amazing regional assets that can have a positive impact on regional growth and prosperity.

In a year which has seen major economic and political change it is essential we understand where we can enact change and look to shape policy, ensuring we protect our industrial heritage, driving growth and competitiveness in the East Midlands in a sustainable way.

On the day we will explore some of the key areas impacting the manufacturing sector, looking at areas we can enact change to drive sustainable growth, including:

Sector overview provided by Chris Corkan, Regional Director – Midlands & East of England & Affiliates Partner Programme, from Make UK and Rick Blackmore, Director of Policy and Insight, East Midlands Chamber, detailing findings from the most recent Economic Survey.

What next for the Industrial Strategy? - The new modern Industrial Strategy “Invest 2035” is the UK government’s 10-year plan which aims to deliver the certainty and stability businesses need to invest in the high growth sectors that will drive growth. We explore what this means for the East Midlands.

International Trade – New governmental approach and the reassessing our relationship with the EU, opportunities and challenges.

Attraction and retention of talent and how to improve productivity and EDI. Including case study on lean manufacturing and productivity gains.
