As the Commercial Partnerships Manager you will be at the heart of developing, securing and managing sponsor relationships to help drive our vision forward. This is your opportunity to manage the Chamber’s sponsorship strategy through generating a prosperous work stream for both relationships and financially.

You will collaborate with all Chamber departments to achieve successful delivery of sponsorship commitments, from exclusive elements within Patronage and Strategic Partnership agreements to innovative collaborations that elevate our brand. Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Director, you’ll be the linchpin connecting our sponsors’ goals with the Chamber’s vision and making our commercial events a triumph for the long-term.

Beyond managing incoming sponsorships, you’ll also oversee the Chamber’s sponsorship relationships with external parties, ensuring we extract maximum value and impact from these agreements. Your work will be pivotal in sustaining and enhancing the Chamber’s reputation as a trusted partner and leader in fostering meaningful business connections.

Overview

Key areas of responsibility

  • Drive sponsorship communication and sales efforts across the Chamber, meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Cultivate and manage long-term sponsorship relationships across all Chamber activities, ensuring successful delivery of commitments.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure sponsorship obligations are fulfilled and deliver value to all stakeholders.
  • Maintain a robust contracting process and ensure timely updates in the CRM system.
  • Support product development and refinement in partnership with the Commercial Marketing, Events, Networks, and Policy Teams.
  • Maximise sponsorship opportunities from Chamber events, networks, and external partnerships.
  • Oversee and ensure value delivery when the Chamber sponsors external events or initiatives.
  • Work with event leads to align events with member and business feedback.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the Senior Leadership Team.

Overview

Applicants will possess

  • An understanding of Chambers of Commerce, membership businesses, and the business support landscape in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Leicestershire.
  • A proven track record in securing, negotiating, and managing sponsorships, including contracts for large-scale events.
  • Experience working to commercial targets and collaborating across teams.
  • Skilled in stakeholder relationship management and engaging diverse business communities.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficient in data analysis, CRM systems, and IT tools.
  • Methodical, detail-oriented, and results-driven with a creative approach.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and adaptable to flexible working hours.
  • Degree or equivalent experience and relevant professional qualifications.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport for business purposes.

If you’re successful at this stage, you will be invited for an interview. If you’re unsuccessful, the Chamber’s HR team will let you know by email.

First, you’ll be invited to interview onsite at the Chesterfield office on 10 or 11 February 2025. If your interview goes well, you may invited to attend a second interview or offered the role. Some interviews might require you to compile some research or to prepare a presentation. At the end of the interview, the interviewer will confirm the timeline for next steps.

Interviews usually last around an hour with a mix of competency based interview questions, and in some cases, we might ask you to carry out some practical exercises.

Decisions will be made at each stage of the process, as we score applicants against the role criteria. If you’re successful, we will contact you to make an offer. This will be followed up in writing and a contract will be sent to you once a start date is confirmed. You will receive information on your induction and what you will do on your first day.
